Admission Arrangements

Whether you are considering a Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) admission or an admission at a later stage, the headteacher would be very happy to take you around our school. Please contact the office if you would like to make an appointment. Towards the end of the term before admission, parents are invited to an induction evening to meet the EYFS and other school staff and to hear more about starting school. Please see our EYFS pages for more information about starting school.

Transfer to High School

This occurs at the end of the academic year in which your child will be 11 years old (Your child must be 11 before 31st August). We work very hard to make the transition from Primary to High School as smooth as possible. The vast majority of pupils transfer to South Charnwood High School or Bosworth Academy.

Admission arrangements – Prior to Autumn 2019 intake

For entries prior to the Autumn 2019 intake, we follow Leicestershire’s admissions arrangements with the exceptions outlined below.

Admissions Policy 2015

Admissions Policy 2016

Admissions Policy 2017

Paragraph 6.5 to be added:
6.5 The Admission Number for each year group is 90 pupils. This number is capped and will not be exceeded to accommodate the catchment area children applying as in-year (mid-term) transfers. Stafford Leys Primary School (Academy) will maintain an over-subscription waiting list throughout the autumn term for the first time admissions year (FTA) only, ranked in the same order as the published over-subscription criteria and in line with the LA’s waiting list rules.

Paragraph 11.1 to be replaced with:
11.1 At the time of first-time admission/transfer decisions, if there are more requests for in-catchment children than the admission number (AN), the AN will not be exceeded to accommodate the catchment area children. Stafford Leys Primary School (Academy) will maintain an over-subscription waiting list throughout the relevant academic year, ranked in the same order as the published over-subscription criteria and not the date of application.

Paragraph 13.9 to be replaced with:
13.9 Stafford Leys Primary School (Academy) will maintain an over-subscription list from completion of the decision-making process for the first-time admissions, and in relation to mid-term transfers, throughout the relevant academic year. This waiting list is ranked in the same order as the published over-subscription criteria and not by date of application.

Paragraph 13.33 and 13.34 (from 2016/2017 policy) and 13.28 and 13.29 (from 2017/2018 policy) will not be followed by Stafford Leys Primary School.
