Collaboration with other schools

At Stafford Leys we enjoy working with other schools across Leicestershire and beyond! We are proud to be members of The Bradgate Education Trust.  We joined the Bradgate Education Partnership  (BEP), a Multi-Academy Trust on 1st February 2020 after working with the trust for the previous year.

Bradgate Education Partnership

The Partnership is a multi-academy trust which is structured in a collaborative model; it recognises the diverse nature of schools within the Trust and that ‘one size does not fit all’. Their schools work in a collaborative nature, sharing best practice, supporting school improvement and contributing to the strategic direction of the Trust.

Bradgate Education Partnership is centred in the Syston area of Leicestershire and their Teaching School STEP (Syston Thurmaston Education Partnership) is also based at their centre.

All of their schools are no more than 25 minutes from the central office based at Wreake Valley Academy and they believe that this structure aids collaboration and results in improved outcomes for all of their students.

Working with others in maths…

Maths workgroups- This academic year we are working with 7 other schools, which were allocated from our local EMS Maths Hub. I hold termly ‘Teacher Research Groups’ in which two colleagues from each school attend and we work collaboratively with a focus on improving maths mastery across the schools. The time is used for lesson observation, then quality feedback and discussions about what went well and how further improvements can be made in our own classes. At each meeting we set group and personal targets which are reviewed and discussed at the next meeting. As a ‘Mastery Specialist Teacher’ I also go into the 7 schools on a termly basis to support the needs of the individual schools further. Alongside this we have an NCETM online community group to keep the supportive dialogue going.

PGCE Maths Focus Day

We have supported the University of Leicester Primary PGCE by hosting 15 of their students for a ‘Maths Focus Day’. This involved lesson observations, looking at resources/books and lots of questions posed to the Maths Lead and Maths Champions.
