At Stafford Leys, the development of children extends further than our formal curriculum. Through a range of activities and opportunities organised in school, we aim to develop responsible, respectful and active citizens who are able to play their part and become actively involved in public life as adults. We believe in promoting equality of opportunity so that all pupils can thrive together, understanding that difference is a positive, not a negative, and that individual characteristics make people unique. Through developing pupils’ character, we ensure that children who leave our school are able to reflect wisely, learn eagerly, behave with integrity and cooperate consistently well with others.
Through our PSHE lessons we actively engage with topics to prepare children for their life beyond Stafford Leys. These topics include mental health, relationships, online safety, risks online and offline and support they can access, healthy eating, exercise and transition to secondary school.
Below we have included a table to show the opportunities for personal, spiritual, social, moral and cultural development and their links to British values. Here’s a key to help identify where we are covering British Values across our wider curriculum. IL – Individual Liberty, T – Tolerance of different cultures and religions, MR – Mutual Respect, RL – Rule of Law, D – Democracy.
